MUSEUM QUALITY CRAP! Being a cynic, sometimes I think the term “museum quality” has been created by certain dealers, collectors and curators to discourage the public from appreciating high-quality traditional textiles which are still made by weavers not only in Indonesia but also in other parts of the world. Only old textiles can enter a museum? Why? Dharmawangsa Art has a few newly made textiles in its collection like these cloths from Timor, Flores, Sulawesi and Kalimantan, where Threads of Life Textiles is working with a number of communities to revive and preserve the old motifs. We are proud to show them to you.
