I am not too obsessed with antique pieces because I think newly-woven yet good quality traditional Indonesian textiles also deserve recognition. This ceremonial shawl from the island of Tanimbar was purchased in the city of Ambon in the Moluccas. The textile could have been made recently, which I don't care, but the clarity of the ikat motifs indicates that it's been woven by an expert weaver.
